The holiday season is so often called a time of peace and joy; a time for quiet moments, reflection and family. Yet with all the stress and commotion, the holidays can make you more Scrooge than Santa Claus. This December, if you can harness one aspect of the ideal holiday season in your business, let it be the spirit of giving-and like the hero of Dickens' novel—let it be year-round.
The paradigm shift toward more charity and volunteerism in business has occurred incrementally over the past few years. More and more businesses are concentrating on not only doing good in the local and global community, but also developing socially responsible day-to-day practices. This month marked our 8th appearance at the annual International Coaching Federation Conference. We enjoyed reconnecting with many of the stars of coaching and had the opportunity to meet many more service professionals who promote personal and professional growth through their daily work.
